It’s been a minute since I’ve whipped up a batch of energy balls, so this recipe is long overdue! You really cannot go wrong with chocolate and tahini, and if you can’t tell, it’s one of my favorite combinations. Check these goodies out while you’re at it!
- Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Tahini Cookies
- Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars
- Salted Tahini Shortbread Bars
Another thing I love about these little bites is just how easy they are to throw together. You’ll only need tahini, oatmeal, vanilla protein powder, chocolate chips and a pinch of salt. That’s it!
Tahini really adds a unique and delicious flavor to most anything (sweet or savory) and is a great way to mix thing up from your usual nut butter. But if you prefer, you’re always welcome to swap this out for peanut butter, almond butter, sunflower seed butter, etc.
Not only is tahini one of the tastiest ingredients, but it’s also a nutrition powerhouse with tons of healthy fats, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. However you get it into your diet is a YES from me! It’s also a nut-free alternative for those with allergies.
If you love tahini as much as I do, you can also check out these recipes to put that tahini to good use:
- Kale Greek Salad with Herbed Tahini
- Sheet Pan Veggies & Chicken Sausage with Harissa Tahini

In addition to the tahini, rolled oats are another pantry staple that I love to throw into cookies, energy balls, homemade granola bars – you name it. You can also opt for a gluten free version here as well.
As for the chocolate chips, I always use the Lily’s Sweets stevia-sweetened baking chips, because they keep these lower in sugar without compromising taste. You can snag them online or at Whole Foods!
Lastly, vanilla protein powder provides additional flavor AND protein to make these energy bites more satiating and satisfying. You can use whatever brand you love and have on hand, but I used Nuzest Plant-Based Protein (use code goodnesswithg for 15% off).
Just mix all of these ingredients together, roll into balls, and you have a delicious snack or treat to enjoy all week long. This recipe truly makes the best meal prep for yourself, kids and the whole dang family!
Hope you enjoy, and let me know how you like them .
