If you're reading this post, you're likely someone who's interested in wellness and already has a pretty good grasp on why morning routines matter, right?
The idea of using mornings to our advantage isn't new, yet establishing consistent, healthy habits is something we can all struggle with at times. And since we really can't have a good morning if we don't set ourselves up for success the night before, we have to chat about these two concepts in tandem!
I recently discussed simple ways to up-level both your morning AND evening routines on my Instagram, and y'all's feedback was incredible.
Keep scrolling for an even deeper dive into why small tweaks to your routine might be the key to a happier mind and more productive day.
Before we dive in, though, I want to remind you that the MOST important tip there is when it comes to establishing any sort of healthy habit or routine is making it DOABLE & REALISTIC.
I never expect perfection from my clients (or myself). Instead, I encourage you to commit to what you can actually be consistent with!
START your day the right way
Direct sunlight first thing
The list of health benefits from direct sunlight (absorbed in moderation, ideally first thing in the morning) are numerous. It's essential for circadian rhythm & hormone regulation, improved sleep quality, vitamin D production and more.
Try going for a quick walk or sipping your morning coffee on your deck or balcony for at least 10-15 minutes (especially while the weather is still nice!).
Phone-free 30 (or ideally phone-free 60)
This is my ALL TIME favorite tip. Challenge yourself to stay off of your phone for at least the first 30 minutes of your day (more if you can) instead of immediately diving into your inbox or social media.
You can use this time to dedicate to other morning habits! I promise you will feel the difference in your mindset and anxiety level throughout the day.
Get grounded
Dedicate at least 10 minutes of your morning to whatever mindfulness practice helps you feel grounded and connected to your body, breath and environment.
Try dabbling in meditation, breathwork, prayer, journaling, walking, etc. Check out my Hacks to Feel More Mindful Right Now blog post for more tips!
Move your body mindfully
Morning movement is simply one of the best ways to feel ready to attack the day, in my opinion. I encourage you to move your body in a way that makes you feel strong and energized.
If your workout leaves you drained and exhausted, it might be time to rethink. Start with a nice morning walk or some stretching and build up from there!
Prioritize a nourishing breakfast
We've always been told it's the most important meal of the day, but WHY? Eating a nourishing breakfast ideally before coffee helps you avoid a blood sugar spike/crash, regulates hormones and sets you up to make better eating decisions throughout the day.

END your day the right way
Phone-free 30/60 (again, I know)
Bringing this one back, because it's just as important to reduce our technology use in the evening as it is in the morning. It's one of the key elements I dive into in my Sleep Workshop, which I highly encourage you to check out if you're struggling in this department.
Set a time where you put all of your devices away and then use this time for your mindful evening routines to wind down.
Prep for the next day
I personally always feel better knowing what my plan for the next day looks like.
Making a to-do list can be a great way to organize your thoughts, especially if you struggle with a racing mind when trying to fall asleep.
Make time for mindfulness
Mindfulness, again? Yes, you heard me! These practices are truly life-changing and a sure-fire way to feel less stressed and improve mental health.
As you wind down for the night, maybe commit to reading 10 pages in a book, do a guided mediation, stretch, etc. Allowing yourself to truly reconnect with your body and breath after a full day is so important.
Clean & organize your space
The state of our physical space is a huge part of wellness that I don't think we discuss enough. We have to create an environment that supports a healthy, happy life, so start here.
Before bed I always try to tidy up a bit so that when I wake up I feel calm and supported by my space. It all comes back to setting yourself up for success, right?
Skincare as self care
Lastly, who doesn't love a little spa moment? My nighttime skincare routine isn't long by any means, but it does help me sort of "wash away" the day and signals it's time to relax and unwind.
I shared my current skincare routine not too long ago if you're interested!
Alright, y'all, now it's your turn to put these suggestions into practice!
Keep me updated on how your morning and evening routines are going, and I'm always here to support in any way😊.
