I’ll admit it. I’ve spent a stupid amount of money over the years on wellness shots of all kinds at Whole Foods, despite their insane price tag. They taste great and make you feel like you’re doing something good for your body, so it’s hard to resist.
Yet I’ve majorly reduced how frequently I venture out to the grocery store in quarantine and have used this time to reevaluate what’s really essential. So what better opportunity to try whipping up my own Turmeric Ginger Shots right at home?
Only a few, simple and inexpensive ingredients are needed to create a large batch that’ll last you much longer than anything you can buy at the store. And the best part? You don’t even need a juicer!
You most certainly can juice all of the ingredients if you happen to have the equipment on hand, but I found blending up everything in my Vitamix, then straining worked perfectly. I used my Ellie’s Best Nut Milk Bag to separate the solids from the juice, but you can use any fine mesh bag or cheese cloth you have on hand. If you’re needing one yourself, use code goodnesswithg for 10% off on the Ellie’s Best website.
As for the ingredients, navel oranges, lemons, turmeric, ginger, black pepper and camu camu powder pack tons of immune boosting goodness into one simple sip. While the camu camu powder is completely optional, it’s my personal favorite addition when I’m needing to ward off any bugs.

Camu camu is loaded with vitamin C which is essential for collagen formation, fortifies the immune system and is a powerful antioxidant that protects against oxidative stress from free radicals.
Plus, adding camu camu into your diet might also help decrease inflammation, reduce weight, improve blood sugar and blood pressure levels and lessen harmful bacterial growth in the body.
Other powerhouse ingredients in these wellness shots are turmeric and ginger, both of which you can find in their whole form at the grocery store. And don’t worry about peeling – straining the juice does all of the work for you!
Turmeric is one of the best additions to your daily routine thanks to its powerful medicinal properties. It’s filled with anti-inflammatory compounds and antioxidants that boost brain function, minimize joint pain, reduce cancer risk and even fight depression.
One key tip to note when consuming turmeric, though, is to pair it with a bit of black pepper. This boosts the body’s ability to absorb curcumin, the anti-inflammatory compound in turmeric, by 2,000%. So don’t forget this key ingredient!
Ginger is likewise a powerful anti-inflammatory food, beneficial for digestion and might even reduce cancer, heart disease and diabetes risks.
Not only will these components make you feel your best, but they also taste delicious when blended together. So much so that Sam and I both found ourselves drinking it by the glass…whoops? All in the name of health I guess!
